~puff cheese whirls~

These lovely puffy nibbles are great warm or cold!

Nice with an aperitif or with a salad for lunch

They consist of rolling out 250g puff pastry into a rectangle and spreading with your favourite cheesy mixture*. Then rolling the pastry into a tube, starting from one long edge. It’s a good idea to chill the tube at this stage (put in the freezer for 30 mins max.) to firm it up and make slicing easier. After chilling slice the tube into 5mm slices and lay on a baking tray and bake at 200°C for 12 mins until golden and puffy.

*I like to spread with 50g blue cheese mixed with 40g of cream cheese or crème fraîche and a tsp of Worcestershire sauce. The whirls in the photos were made by D. and spread with a seasoned mixture of cream cheese and pesto. Really anything spreadable would be good!

They are also great when cooked (or reheated) from frozen so possible to make in advance or to keep if you have made too many!
